Welcome to the fourth entry to my Devlog. This week, I dialled in to see what the prototype could look like. However, I first needed to prepare my engine with a plug-in. Based on my previous experiences with 2d in Unreal I encountered hurdles with the animation graph for 2d characters and with the paper zd plugin I should be able to overcome this.
I used this foundation to organise the work to get a basic prototype of the game. However, something that was also very challenging this week was figuring out how I was going to set up the combat system of the game. Because I plan. To do the art for the game I donβt want the weapon to be visible during any of the animations until the player uses the weapon. Doing this I clarified and refined this concept in my GDD
This week allowed me to finalise the combat element of the game. Next week I want to begin programming and importing 2D asset packs for the basic movement of the game to get the ball rolling in the engine.
